Dorchester County Receives Distinguished Budget Award for the Twelfth Consecutive Year
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded Dorchester County the Distinguished Budget Award for the twelfth consecutive year.
Established in 1984, the Distinguished Budget Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting. Award recipients must meet a strict criteria, while consistently preparing budget documents of the highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOAs best practices on budgeting. This includes publishing a budget document that serve as a policy document, as an operations guide, as a financial plan, and as a communications device.
Dorchester County Council Chairman, Jay Byars, said “this achievement is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our excellence driven staff, specifically Director of Business Services, Jessica Shuler and Chief Financial Officer, Daniel Prentice.”
Town of Hilton Head Island Finance Director, John Troyer, will present the award to Shuler and Prentice on behalf of the GFOA at the Monday, February 5t, 2018 County Council Meeting.
