Evacuations

Governor Henry McMaster has ordered a mandatory evacuation of Evacuation Zones D, E and F in Dorchester County

Individuals residing in mobile or manufactured homes should also evacuate or seek shelter in a hardened structure.

When the Governor orders a mandatory evacuation, it is required that everyone in the designated area leave. The mandatory evacuation order carries the force of state law. In addition, once you leave the area, the order prohibits you from returning until the Governor suspends the order and conditions are deemed safe.

Shelter Transportation

If residents are in an evacuation zone and do not have the resources to leave the area, Dorchester County in conjunction with community partners will provide free transportation to open public shelters only.

Residents can go to the below pickup locations beginning at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, to be taken to an evacuation shelter.

If residents are unable to get to a predesignated pick-up location, they are encouraged to contact the Citizens Call Center for assistance with alternate transportation plans.
