Information Sessions for the ManuFirstSC Grant Program
Dorchester County in partnership with Trident Technical College is offering free ManuFirstSC training to the residents of Dorchester County. This training, formally known as Lean Manufacturing, is being provided in part through Dorchester County funding and a Trident Technical College grant.
The demand for workers in high-tech lean manufacturing is expected to continue to surge in the Lowcountry in the coming years and Dorchester County Economic Development and Trident Technical College's Division of Continuing Education are gearing up to train the employees that can fill the labor pipeline.
The college has modified its ManuFirstSC program, originally developed in conjunction with local manufacturers to provide workers with the equivalent of one year of manufacturing experience, to conform to the state of South Carolina's ManuFirstSC Grant program.
The 62-hour training will begin on February 16, 2019, and all classes will be held in the St. George area (location TBD, depending on class size).
Dorchester County is hosting a series of free information sessions about the ManuFirstSC Grant program in January 2019. Each of the below sessions will begin at 5:30 PM and last approximately 2 hours:
- Thursday, January 10th at Woodland High School, 4128 Highway 78, Dorchester, SC
- Tuesday, January 15th at the Harleyville Community Center, 163 S. Railroad Avenue, Harleyville, SC
- Thursday, January 17th at the Ridgeville Community Center, 105 School Street, Ridgeville, SC
Representatives from Dorchester County Adult Education, SC Works, ReadySC and Vocational Rehabilitation will also be available to assist residents with registering for work keys testing and to provide information on how to obtain a GED.
