Dorchester County Celebrates Melanie Hay as Employee of the Quarter
Since joining the Dorchester County team in January 2017, Melanie has played a crucial role in the day to day operations on the Business Services Department. She has been instrumental in creating and implementing best practices, policies, and procedures in many areas including revenue, business license, and Hospitality Tax.
Melanie can always be counted on to take the lead on a project while also bringing all team members together for the common good. She always goes above and beyond to ensure all aspects are considered, even if it is not something that directly affects her area of responsibility or the Business Services Department directly.
She genuinely cares about the County and makes sure things are done efficiently and accurately. Most recently, Melanie assisted in areas outside of the department, where support was needed to reconcile bank statements and improve the month-end financial closing process.
Dorchester County Council Chairman, George Bailey said “Mrs. Hay is always willing to help Team Dorchester County. Her enthusiasm, drive, and expertise in budget and revenue played a major role in revamping the departments policies and procedures. Her ability to create, implement and train other team members on new processes is keeping with the highest standards of government finance.”
Business Services Director, Jessica Shuler added “Melanie is always willing to go the extra mile to improve processes and rectify situations that are causing issues in the process flow. She has developed a wonderful rapport with the departments she works with, as well as many outside agencies.” Shuler added “she is a huge asset to Dorchester County and I am happy to see her hard work recognized.”
