Dorchester County Maintains OPCON 3 Closely Monitoring Hurricane Dorian

Dorchester County remains at Operating Condition (OPCON) 3, normal operations, closely monitoring Hurricane Dorian, which is currently located approximately 255 miles east, southeast of the Bahamas moving northwest at 12 miles per hour.

Public Safety crews are preparing for evacuation traffic on I-95 Northbound from Florida.

In observance of Labor Day, all Dorchester County Administrative Offices, Convenience Sites, Dorchester County Circuit, Family, Magistrate and Probate Courts, and the Dorchester County Library will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2019.

County officials and staff will continue to participate in daily conference calls to remain up-to-date on the storm’s path and potential impacts. While the impacts to Dorchester County remains uncertain, residents are encouraged to review their hurricane preparedness and evacuation plans. Dorchester County Hurricane Evacuation Zones were updated in May 2018. Residents can locate their zone by visiting the Hurricane Dorian page on this site and/or by downloading the SC Emergency Manager mobile app.
