Post Date:03/18/2020 10:38 AM

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has confirmed a patient at Summerville Medical Center has tested positive for COVID-19.

The patient is a Charleston County resident who arrived at Summerville Medical Center via self-transport. The patient remains in the care of Summerville Medical Center.

Summerville Medical Center continues to restrict visitors to select entrances, where screening protocols have been put in place. Patients showing symptoms of COVID-19 are masked and immediately isolated.

Dorchester County continues to closely monitor the development of cases throughout the state and maintains a direct line of communication with DHEC, the South Carolina Emergency Management Division, and Summerville Medical Center. DHEC is the lead agency.
