Dorchester County Government By-Mail Recordings Delayed

The National Institute of Health (NIH) has issued guidance that COVID-19 can survive on cardboard and paper products for up to 24 hours. With this guidance Dorchester County has instituted a 24-hour quarantine on all certified and uncertified mail and packages received by the County. The Register of Deeds and the Probate Court of Dorchester County acknowledge this may impact recordings that have date specific statutory filing requirements and urges all submitting parties to be aware of the added time restraints and plan accordingly.

Convenience Fees Waived

Convenience fees for the below online payments/services have been waived through Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

  • Property Taxes
  • EMS transactions
  • Dorchester County Water & Sewer transactions
  • Building Permits
  • Permit Reviews
  • Encroachment Permits
  • Business Licenses
  • Hospitality Tax Payments

Online payments for traffic citations and all other associate court fees and programs are provided on a state level. Dorchester County Council cannot waive those fees.

Summerville YMCA Student Meals Program

The Summerville Family YMCA, in partnership with the Lowcountry Food Bank, will provide a bag filled with nutritious food for children 18 years old and younger on Monday, March 23, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Oakbrook YMCA Family Center located at 900 Crosscreek Drive in Summerville.

“During this time of uncertainty, we continue to serve our community,” said Andrea Dorman, Family Program Director at the Summerville Family YMCA. “Each child will receive a bag containing ten items, including: can goods such as pasta and vegetables, a fruit cup, a shelf-stable milk and more.”

Closures, Cancellations, and Postponements

The Dorchester County Conservation Commission Meeting scheduled for April 2 has been canceled.
