Largest Hurricane Expo in Lowcountry South Carolina Returns on June 6

Dorchester County invites families for preparedness conversations, touch-a-truck, and engaging activities

Post Date:04/28/2026 9:00 AM

Dorchester County encourages community members to participate in the 2026 Hurricane Expo and Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 6, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ashley River Park (200 Renken Road, Summerville). Participants will have the opportunity to learn about how to best prepare their homes and families for the hurricane season, while having an enjoyable day at the park.

The event will feature experts in emergency and hurricane preparedness, including National Weather Service, South Carolina Emergency Management, and Dorchester County Emergency Management. Participants will have the opportunity to meet local first responders and enjoy a “Touch-a-Truck” display of safety vehicles. There will also be other vendors available to answer questions about local services, such as the county’s mosquito abatement program, local law enforcement, animal control, and more.

This event provides valuable resources and information, especially for those who have recently moved to the Lowcountry from other parts of the state or country. Community members are invited to bring the entire family for train rides, inflatables, face painting, balloon art, and food vendors.

All ages are welcome. There is no cost for the event, but participants must pay the park admission fee of $2 per person over age three.
