The mission of the Voter Registration and Elections Office is to promote and facilitate voter registration, properly maintain all voter registration records, conduct fair and impartial elections in accordance with state and federal election laws, protect the integrity of the election process for all, and provide quality customer service for every citizen.

 

Note: A photo ID is required to vote in South Carolina.


NOTICE OF PUBLIC TEST FOR

VOTING SYSTEM PREPARATION AND EARLY VOTING 

As required by Section 7-13-1750 of the SC Code of Laws, this notice is to inform you that Dorchester County Elections & Registration will begin preparing voting equipment for the upcoming Local Municipal Elections and State House District 98 Primary, scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

Testing and sealing of the voting machines for Early Voting and Election Day polling locations will commence on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Testing will continue each business day afterwards, beginning at 9:00 a.m., until the task process is completed. 

Ballot Marking Devices and DS300 Precinct Scanners will be tested as part of this process.

All machine testing and preparation will be conducted at the Dorchester County Elections Warehouse, 235 Deming Way, Summerville, SC 29483.
