Dorchester County is now accepting applications for funding from the accommodations taxes that were received during the counties 2020 fiscal year. Any individuals or business in Dorchester County meeting the criteria of the Accommodations Tax Law is hereby invited to apply.

The request for funds must be for a specific project which promotes tourism and enhances the ability of the County to attract and provide for tourists.


Applications are available:

  • Via the link provided below
  • In the Business Services Office located at 201 Johnston Street, St. George
  • In the Deputy Administrator's Office located at 500 North Main Street, Summerville

Application Submission

Completed applications must be received, no later than, Monday, August 3, 2020. Applications can be hand delivered to the Business Services Office or sent via the USPS to the below address.

Advisory Committee

County Council adopted Ordinance 97-10 on March 17, 1997, creating a Dorchester County Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee. This Committee advises Dorchester County Council on the expenditure of monies received by Dorchester County from the State of South Carolina through the Accommodations Tax.

The Committee makes recommendations for the appropriate expenditure of these monies to County Council. This written report is provided to County Council by September 1 of each year to cover estimated and/or actual revenues and proposed expenditures for the prior fiscal year monies. The Business Services Director staffs the Committee.
