Business Personal Property Tax (BPP) is a tax on the furniture, fixtures, and equipment that are owned and used in a business. Any assets that are claimed on the business' income taxes should be reported on the BPP tax return. On the return, the business owner reports the total cost of the assets, the income tax depreciation, and the net depreciated value.
Businesses that provide a service will file the County Business Personal Property Form to Dorchester County; all other businesses will file the PT 100 Form to the S.C. Dept. Of Revenue.
If you are unaware of which category you must file and/or have any question, please contact Marcia Jackson at (843) 832-0127.
Note: In Dorchester County you may not renew your business license until all past due tax issues have been resolved.
