On Sunday, November 10, Dorchester County will host the Inaugural Veterans Parade & Celebration at the Dorchester County Courthouse located at 5200 E. Jim Bilton Blvd. in St. George. This is a free, rain-or-shine event to honor and celebrate Dorchester County Veterans.
The event will kick-off with a parade along Highway 78 at 2:00 PM. The parade will begin at Ridge Street and end at the Courthouse.
The deadline to submit an application to participate in the parade was Friday, November 1.
Events and Activities at the Courthouse
Music will begin at 3:00 PM with the East Coast Party Band taking the stage at 4:00 PM.
Veterans are invited to enjoy a fish fry (while supplies last) at the event, compliments of St. George DAV Chapter 78 in conjunction with Councilwoman Holman.
The below food vendors will be on-site offering a variety of food and beverage options available for purchase:

- The Holy City Cupcakes Food Truck
- Greekin’ Out
- Squeals On Wheels
- Stuffed charleston
Event goers are encouraged to bring folding chairs and/or a blanket.
Coolers and tents will not be permitted at the event.
Bounce houses, a rock-climbing wall, an inflatable boot camp obstacle course and a bungee trampoline will be available in the Kid's Zone, free of charge.
The event will conclude with a 15-minute firework show at 7:00 PM.
On-site parking will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Additional handicap parking spots will be provided in the paved lot at the Courthouse. Overflow parking will be in a grass lot. Note, parking in the grass lot is at your own risk.
Off Site Parking
Off site parking will be available at the below locations. Shuttle Service to/from the event will be provided from Sites A and C.
Site A - Dorchester Academy, 234 Academy Road, St. George
Site B – SC DMV/SC DOT, 5315 East Jim Bilton Blvd, St. George
Site C – Kenneth F. Waggoner Services Building, 201 Johnston Street, St. George
TriCounty Link will operate shuttle service between Summerville and St. George before and after the event.
Shuttles will pick up at the Summerville County Council Chambers located at 500 N. Main Street at 1:00 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:00 PM. Shuttles are handicap accessible and will hold approximately 24 people.
The return shuttles will run from the event to the Summerville Council Chambers at 7:35 PM and 8:15 PM.
Shuttle service from Summerville to St. George will not be provided during the event.
